Book Reviews

Welcome to this little nook on Learn Who I Am, a space that decided, without much warning, to become a whirlwind of books and my fiery opinions about them. What started as a passing thought while working on the website one day quickly turned into a rabbit hole I couldn’t resist. Now here we are, diving headfirst into the literary chaos.

This isn’t the whole website, of course. It’s just one of many chaotic corners where my thoughts land whenever I feel the need to ramble. Think of it as a side quest in the grand adventure of Learn Who I Am, where we wander into the world of books because I simply cannot keep my thoughts to myself. Predictability has never been my thing.

Books, glorious books. Hardcovers, paperbacks, e-books, audiobooks narrated by people whose voices if they are able to keep my attention aka a good old fashioned human reader who isn’t monotone, could convince me to adopt a dragon. I inhale stories like a literary tornado, often finishing a book in a day. If I posted everything the moment I finished reading, my website would be an avalanche of book discussions entertaining, sure, but overwhelming. Instead, posts gathered here appear sporadically despite being written as if it was the day of being published because that is when they are written, giving them space to breathe between everything else. While I love printed books, they aren’t always possible anymore. Carpal tunnel, despite surgery, makes holding them difficult, and fibro and migraines mean e-books are simply the better choice. Audiobooks sneak in from time to time too, but if a story truly captivates me, I’ll get it for my e-reader so I can absorb it in a way that works best for me.

Now, what even is a book review? A structured analysis of plot and themes? Or me dramatically flailing over a shocking twist? Honestly, I never in any formalized way. I don’t follow traditional formats, and I certainly won’t start now. Rules in writing? I’d rather set them on fire just to watch the sparks fly, and other times I’ll just sit here in existential despair over an ending that wrecked me emotionally. If a book’s front is particularly delightful or an absolute betrayal you’d better believe I’ll mention it. Reviews here will be raw, unfiltered, and completely off-the-cuff, just like everything else on my website. This is apart from AI being my editor to help prevent me from going on about the same thing repeatedly, plus makes sure I am explaining things in a way that makes sense given I can jump around. Though just like everything else purely my work. Still must figure out how to put a book cover on and whether that is a copy right issue or not.

Order is overrated. Expect the chaos you know me for. And be warned spoilers may lurk in the whirlwind.

Whether you stumbled across this page by accident or you’re here for the bookish chaos, welcome. Reviews and musings will appear when you least expect them, covering whatever I have read, don’t worry I will not include medical and scientific journals and books lol. A little chaotic, a little cozy, entirely unpredictable just the way I like it.

Let’s dive into this literary labyrinth together.
