A lifeline that barks, a beacon in the night,
A lifeline that guides, through shadows and light,
A lifeline of love, unwavering and bright.
Always connected, hearts beating as one,
Always together, until the day is done,
Always trusting, our bond can’t be undone.
A grounding presence, leaning near,
Guiding me through nights of fear,
Dispelling shadows, bringing cheer.
Loving one another, hearts intertwined,
A living companion, so gentle and kind,
A bond of pure love, forever enshrined.
In the wake of my daughter’s passing,
You were my anchor, my steady ground,
Calming my fears, easing my pain,
A lifeline in my darkest hours,
A team forever.
Through the waves of CPTSD and anxiety,
Your gentle nudge, your warm embrace,
A reminder that I’m not alone,
A beacon of hope.
Initially, I resisted, my CPTSD flared,
But you chose me,
Calming my fears with your gentle pressure,
Guiding me to take you home,
To train you,
A unique bond in the service dog world.
Your soft, velvety ears,
Your coarse tail,
Your smooth fur, a comfort to my touch,
Helping me stim, easing my mind.
When I can’t calm, you lick my tears away,
A soothing presence, till laughter is there.
A lifeline in my darkest hours.
In a high-speed crash, in shock and despair,
You calmed me enough to recall my phone,
Sat in my lap, giving pressure when I went nonverbal,
Your acceptance, a lifeline when no one stopped to help,
In the freezing temperatures, you saved my life.
Under plush blankets and soft sheets,
You press against me, keeping nightmares at bay,
Your warmth a shield, through the darkest of nights,
A guardian of dreams, until the morning light.
A team much needed, a bond so true,
A team that means safety, through and through,
A team forever, just me and you.
In my darkest hours, you are my light,
A steadfast companion, through day and night,
Together we stand, a bond so tight,
A lifeline of love, my guiding light.

I would love to hear from you!
