Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Late evening, a time for reflection under the stars
As I write tonight, I find myself envisioning the life I hope to live ten years from now—a life shaped by resilience, hope, and determination.
Right now, my food situation is incredibly challenging. Most days, I’m fortunate to manage even one meal. Hunger often feels like a constant companion, and the uncertainty of when or what I’ll eat weighs heavily. Yet, even in these difficult times, I hold on to hope that this will change. I dream of a future where food is no longer scarce but abundant—a source of nourishment and joy rather than worry.
In ten years, I see myself embracing a life where my relationship with food has transformed. I will have a thriving garden and lush indoor plants growing in leca, supplying fresh vegetables, fruits, and herbs year-round. Hunting will have become an empowering skill—a way to provide meat with gratitude and respect for the animals I harvest. Cooking will evolve into a creative ritual, turning my harvests into nourishing, flavorful meals, free of worry or scarcity. Food will be a celebration of self-sufficiency, independence, and a respect for nature.
As a wheelchair user, I envision a home that embraces accessibility without compromising beauty and functionality. A two-story haven, designed thoughtfully with wide doors and a lift to move effortlessly between floors. Living in the countryside, I imagine my walls adorned with vibrant plants rooted in leca, engineered with care to protect both the plants and the home’s infrastructure. These plants will not just decorate—they will thrive, transforming my living space into a sanctuary of greenery.
The living walls will stretch upwards, with climbing plants gracefully weaving along their surfaces, creating a tapestry of lush leaves and blooms. Over time, my ceilings may become an extension of this greenery—a canopy of life overhead, casting gentle shadows and bringing a sense of the outdoors inside. Each plant will be placed thoughtfully, nurtured to grow in harmony with my home, adding not only beauty but also improved air quality and a calming presence.
To ensure this indoor ecosystem remains healthy and functional, I’ll take strategic steps to prevent issues like mildew. Netting or similar protective layers will act as a buffer between the walls and aerial roots, allowing the plants to climb freely while safeguarding the underlying structure. This setup will also ensure that repairs—whether for wiring, pipes, or other fixtures—can be carried out easily without damaging the plants. The balance between nature and practicality will be carefully designed, reflecting my dedication to sustainable and mindful living.
Outside, I’ll cultivate a small garden to complement the indoor greenery—thriving vegetables, fruits, and herbs that require open skies to flourish. These two ecosystems, inside and out, will blend seamlessly, reflecting my connection to nature and my dedication to sustainable living.
Quiet evenings will become treasured rituals. When the weather allows, I’ll read under open skies in the fresh country air. In winter, the comforting crackle of a wood-burning fire will accompany me indoors, keeping the cold at bay. Gas heating will remain as a reliable backup to ensure pipes stay protected—but wood heating will create a comforting warmth that feels alive.
Career-wise, I see myself thriving as a published author. Novels, short stories, and poetry will flow from my soul onto the pages, captivating readers and bringing my dreams to life. My novel series will be well underway, making its mark on readers across the globe. My poetry collection will sing with authenticity, sharing pieces of my heart through every verse.
Creativity will expand beyond writing. I’ll master the art of beading and leatherworking, crafting pieces that tell their own stories. Tanning my own hides, sourced through my hunting, will become a mindful skill—a blend of utility and artistry.
Connection will bloom in the relationships I nurture. My website will be a thriving community, a hub of interaction where visitors feel more like friends. It will be a space for discussion, sharing, and connection—a gathering place where ideas spark and relationships deepen. My countryside retreat will become a sanctuary for cherished friends, where laughter and shared memories bring joy to quiet days.
I’ll deepen my roots in my culture, attending sweats and ceremonies to stay connected to tradition. Languages will become a wellspring of inspiration, enabling me to write and converse with fluency, bridging cultures and perspectives. Travel will enrich my soul, filling my passport with stamps and my journals with heartfelt stories written in faraway places.
Above all, I see empowerment. No longer wondering how to make ends meet, I’ll use my voice to call attention to injustices and bring about change. My words will carry strength and conviction, shining light where it is needed most.
In ten years, I see a life transformed—a life where challenges are met with creativity and hope, and every corner of my world reflects intention, growth, and meaning.

I know I will make it. I even have some of the plants growing for when I get that home started. I can see myself going overboard with photos as I go along once I get this garden going and indoor living walls and roofs.
Thank you for your words and encouragement. I have no plan to stop writing, it’s freedom.
